Terms & Conditions

Last updated: October 14, 2026

1. Who we are

Beacon is an English-learning platform built on the comprehensible input method, operated by Beacon Learning ("Beacon Learning", "we", "us"). When you create an account or buy a subscription, you are contracting with Beacon Learning.

2. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or continuing to use Beacon, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and to our Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. You must be at least 13 years old, and if you use Beacon on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization.

3. The service

Beacon provides a curated library of comprehensible input videos for English learners, organized by level, together with watch-time tracking, streaks and progress tools. Some videos are free; the full library requires a paid Premium subscription. Some library videos are hosted by third parties (such as YouTube) and embedded using their official players; availability of those videos can change outside our control.

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Beacon for personal, non-commercial learning within your plan. We may add, change or remove features and content over time.

4. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information when signing up and keep it up to date.

5. Acceptable use

You must not misuse Beacon. In particular, you must not:

  • use the service for anything unlawful, fraudulent or deceptive;
  • infringe anyone's intellectual property rights;
  • interfere with the service's security, probe or scan it, or introduce malware;
  • scrape, bulk-download or re-host the content or the library;
  • reverse engineer the service, circumvent technical limits, or resell or redistribute access;
  • share your account or Premium access with others.

6. Intellectual property

Beacon Learning owns the Beacon service, including its software, design, branding and documentation. Third-party videos remain the property of their respective creators and are shown through their official embed players. Nothing in these terms transfers any ownership to you.

7. Payments and subscriptions

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

Payment, billing, taxes, cancellation and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel anytime, and your access continues until the end of the paid period. See our Refund Policy.

8. Service level

We work hard to keep Beacon available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The service is provided "as is" and "as available", and we disclaim all implied warranties (including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose) to the fullest extent permitted by law. Learning outcomes depend on your own effort and time spent.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms, fail to pay, create a security or fraud risk, or repeatedly or seriously violate our policies. You may stop using Beacon and delete your account at any time. When an account ends, we may delete its data after a reasonable period, as described in the Privacy Notice.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Beacon Learning is not liable for indirect, consequential or special damages (including loss of profits, data or goodwill). Our aggregate liability to you is capped at the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury where the law does not allow it.

11. General

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where Beacon Learning is registered, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. We may update these terms from time to time; continued use after changes means you accept them. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger or acquisition. Neither party is liable for delays caused by events beyond its reasonable control.
